How to Bulk Edit Product Template (Template Suffix)

Templates in Shopify are a group of sections arranged to give your store a consistent design and feel. The sections you can include in your templates depend on the theme you are using.

When you rearrange a template, your changes apply to every page that uses the template. If you decide to mass-change the templates for a set of products, it would be very convenient to set the templates per product from a spreadsheet app like the Mixtable Spreadsheet Editor instead of going to the product pages one by one via the Shopify admin.

Here’s what the manual change looks like:

Change Product Templates in Shopify Admin:

1. Go to the product page
2. In the sidebar, locate Template Suffix and choose the desired product template from the drop-down.

Change Product Templates in Bulk with Mixtable Spreadsheet Editor:

1. After installing the Mixtable Spreadsheet Editor, load a Mixtable Workbook with Products - Basic (without variants) (unless you don’t have one already)
2. Sync the Product Field > Product Template Suffix data in a new column.

3. Use the spreadsheet to change the product template for the products you need and sync it back to Shopify.
